A New Chapter Begins: Prosser Library
After years of thoughtful planning and construction, Bloomfield's crown jewel is ready to welcome you home. The newly reimagined Prosser Library represents more than just a building renovation—it's the realization of our community's vision for a vibrant, accessible, and forward-thinking space that will serve generations to come.
Located directly across from Town Hall in the heart of our soon-to-be revitalized Town Center, the stunning 28,000-square-foot facility has opened its doors, marking a historic milestone for Bloomfield residents.
Every corner of the new Prosser Library reflects the voices and needs of Bloomfield residents. Through extensive community input sessions, we learned what mattered most to you: flexible programming spaces, dedicated areas for all ages, and amenities that bring people together.
The design team at TSKP Studio listened carefully, creating a space that honors both our agricultural roots and our dynamic future. The result is a library that feels both welcoming and inspiring—a place where community connections flourish alongside quiet study and discovery.
Architectural Innovation Meets Natural Beauty
One of the most striking features of the new library is its ability to seamlessly integrate with the natural landscape while addressing practical challenges. Due to flooding concerns from adjacent Wash Brook, the innovative design elevates the building above flood levels while transforming this potential obstacle into an asset.
Picture this: as you approach the library, you'll cross a new pedestrian bridge spanning Wash Brook, creating an exciting and memorable entry experience. The bridge leads directly to the library's welcoming south-facing entry portico, where natural light floods the space and creates an immediate sense of warmth and openness.
The new Prosser Library doesn't just meet current accessibility standards—it exceeds them. Every area of the building has been designed with universal access in mind, ensuring that all community members can fully participate in library programs and services.
Modern technology infrastructure supports everything from high-speed internet access to interactive programming spaces, while maintaining the quiet, contemplative atmosphere that makes libraries special.

Spaces That Inspire and Adapt
Step inside, and you'll discover thoughtfully designed areas that cater to every member of our community:
The Children's Discovery Zone features child-height book stacks, interactive art walls, specialized computer stations with age-appropriate programs, and flexible seating options that encourage both independent exploration and group activities. The space flows naturally between quiet reading nooks and more active learning areas.
Adult Spaces include both intimate reading areas anchored by a cozy fireplace and larger collaborative zones. Whether you're seeking solitude for focused work or spaces for community meetings and group study, you'll find environments designed to support your goals.
The Teen Center offers a dedicated space where middle and high school students can truly call their own, complete with comfortable gaming areas, collaborative work stations, and flexible furniture that can be reconfigured for different activities and group sizes.
The new Prosser Library serves as more than a community resource—it's a cornerstone of Bloomfield's broader vision to revitalize our Town Center. With expanded parking, improved access to public transportation, and a welcoming entry plaza, the library will help bring new energy and foot traffic to our downtown area.
